Kathmandu Bio-Mass Heater
One of the most iconic symbols of camping is the campfire and traditionally this has been enjoyed by thousands of New Zealand and Australian families. However over the past decade firebans have restricted the use of campfires and have ultimately deprived campers of this experience. This design aims at emulating the campfire experience by focusing on the social aspect of camping in-conjunction with using heat and light to reinforce the social atmosphere. The Bio-mass heater does this using a renewable energy source which is the bio-mass fuel; this fuel is gathered from the local pine wood shavings in the New Zealand forestry industry and then compressed into these logs which can burn for long periods of time due to their compression density.
